- Set the wash protocol before approval
- Agree the care instructions, washing and drying conditions, number of cycles, measurement points and conditioning procedure before comparing samples. Use the same procedure for the sample and production checks; a cold-wash result cannot establish performance under a different drying method.
- Measure the complete garment
- Record body length, chest width, sleeve and inseam measurements before and after laundering. Calculate dimensional change as (after minus before) / before × 100%; a negative result means shrinkage. Compare each point with the agreed tolerance and size chart rather than a single universal shrinkage promise.
- Check more than the fabric swatch
- Review seam twisting, neckline and cuff recovery, print appearance, opacity, zipper operation and snap attachment after washing. A stable swatch alone does not confirm that a finished romper or pajama set will retain its fit and construction.
- Connect approval to the bulk order
- Identify the tested sample, fabric lot, color or print, size, date and results. Retain an approved reference and agree how production-lot samples will be checked. If fabric, finishing or trims change, review whether a new approval is needed before release.

What shrinkage tolerance should I specify for bamboo babywear?+
Agree tolerances by measurement point, garment style, size and laundering procedure before sampling. There is no single shrinkage percentage suitable for every bamboo viscose knit or garment. Evaluate the finished garment against its approved measurements and intended fit.
Does a wash test replace US product safety testing?+
No. Wash and dimensional checks evaluate product performance. They do not replace applicable US safety testing, certification or labeling review. Plan those requirements separately for the specific garment and intended use.
